The 51 cyclists travelled throughout the 112km long distance from Lahore to Gujrat in heavy rain. The 9th stage of cycle race started from Lahore at 10:00 hours. The heavy rain disturbed all the hospitality arrangements made by the local administration of Lahore at the starting point. Kamran Ameen, Executive Vice President of National Bank of Pakistan and President of Punjab Cycling Association presented the 'Yellow Jersey' to Muhammad Asif of Pakistan Railways, the winner of the 8th stage.
Idrees Haider Khawaja, General Secretary of Pakistan Cycling Federation was also present on the occasion.
The 9th stage was probably the most difficult as heavy rain lashed the cyclists. Noor Alam of Sindh was the first cyclist to reach the finish point on Monday at Gujrat. He finished the distance in 3 hrs, 5 minutes and 25 seconds. He was also the first rider from his team to claim the 'Yellow Jersey' on Monday. Noor Alam was followed at the finishing line by Jawad Moosavi of Iran and Dilsher Ali of Wapda at intervals of 10 seconds each The judges had difficulty in compiling the final results because of showers.-PR
