The Pakistan Telecom Employees Union (CBA) has threatened to jam the telecommunication system if their demands were not met forthwith and minimum salary was not fixed at Rs 10,000. Briefing the journalists here on Monday Union General Secretary Saifuddin said that Union agreed to accept the contract offer conditionally made by the Pakistan Telecommunication Company.
He said that minimum wages of the contract workers should be fixed and the contract period should not be less than five years, and the PTCL should be bound to pay the wages of five years in case of removal of any employee before ending the contract period.
He said: "We have handed over our charter of demand to PTCL Chairman Junaid I. Khan, who has been drawing salary of Rs 1.7 million per month and Union central leader Ziauddin Khan (Karachi) and General Secretary Rana Tahir (Lahore) also discussed their demands with Khan."
He said that minimum salary should not be less than Rs 10,000 per month on regular basis and implementation on the commitment made by the management during the two hours token strike of the workers daily.
