Differences cropped among the Federal Minister for Agriculture, Food, and Livestock Malik Sikandar Hayat Bosan and local MPAs on the issue of appointment of chairmen of local Zakat committees in Multan district resultantly Zakat fund of Rs 80 million could not be distributed among the destitutes who are running from pillar to post to get their alms.
Sources told Sikandar Hayat Bosan had got appointed his 65 favourites as chairman local Zakat councils in his constituency while Chairman of District Zakat Committee Multan Nasir Mahay who was also got appointed by the Minister was reluctant to approve the lists of Muhammad Ibrahim Khan Malazai MPA, Mueen Riaz Qureshi MPA and also in Jalalpurpirwala and Shujabad.
The affectees have vehemently condemned the role ruling party and its office bearers who were doing politics on Zakat Fund and failed to appoint the chairmen of more than 500 Zakat committees in Multan district alone which was a property of the poor and the destitutes. They further said it was a great sin to delay in payment of Zakat. If anyone committed suicide due to unavailability of food or job, those Zakat and Bait-ul-Maal committees would be responsible for their deaths as per Islamic Shariah.
