Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Ellahi ordered immediate implementation on the project of setting up Seerat Academy and Quran Complex in Lahore. This project, over an area of 47-kanal piece of land in Upper Mall scheme, would cost Rs 300 million. While presiding over a high-level meeting here on Thursday, the chief minister also gave final approval to the design of Seerat Academy and Quran Complex.
He said an auditorium and a conference hall, having a seating capacity for 700 and 200 persons, respectively, would also be constructed in the Seerat Academy where educational facilities for MA and Ph D in Seerat studies would be available. He said Seerat Academy would be a source of knowledge about different aspects of the personality of Holy Prophet (PBUH) and would provide an opportunity to new generation to acquire religious education according to real spirit of Islam.
He said a Quran Museum to preserve and display old and rare manuscripts of the Holy Quran would be established in Quran Complex. A Quran Library would also be a part of the complex for which translations and interpretations of Holy Quran in different languages would be collected. A research centre, a library and a mosque would also be constructed in Quran Academy, he added.
He further said the architectural design of Seerat Academy and Quran Complex would be harmony in with that of Masjid-e-Nabvi and other sacred places. He also appreciated the efforts of Secretary Communication and Works and Chief Architect Punjab in designing Seerat Academy and Quran Complex.
Additional Chief Secretary Punjab Khushnood Akhtar Lashari, Chairman P&D Salman Ghani, Secretary Finance Salman Saddique, Secretary Auqaf Javed Iqbal Awan, Secretary C&W Sibtain Fazal Haleem, Chairman Punjab Quran Board, Maulana Muhammad Hanif Jallundhary and Chief Architect Punjab Zohra Ashraf as well as senior officers were present in the meeting.
