Telenor Pakistan Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President Tore Johrisen has been elected chairman of supervisory board to implement mobile number portability (MNP) on Thursday. The supervisory board comprises 10 members of the cellular mobile telephone operators (CMTO) and one representative of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority. The election was held at meeting at a meeting, chaired by PTA chairman Major General Shahzada Alam Malik (Retd).
PTA's Director General (ICT) Ahsan Jafri made a detailed presentation to the participants of the meeting and explained about the role of supervisory board, technical solutions, RFQs funding, policy and roadmap.
Shahzada Alam Malik told the meeting that constitution of the supervisory board and election of its chairman was a landmark in the history of development of cellular mobile phone industry in Pakistan. He said the board would work professionally and reach to an acceptable solution. He noted that the board would help the implementation of MNP as per schedule.
According to the chairman, the PTA would facilitate the board in its pursuit to help it implement MNP. He told a questioner that PTCL would be asked to gear up its participation in preparation and implementation of the MNP solutions to be finalised by the board. He said that PTCL would be ready for routing their calls from fix network to the ported numbers at different cellular mobile operators network.
