Muttaheda Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) President and Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmed has termed General Pervez Musharraf's division of Kashmir formula a U-turn from the Islamabad's principled stance on Kashmir issue and a conspiracy to weaken the freedom struggle of Kashmiris. In a strong worded statement issued here on Sunday, the MMA leader said Kashmiris have already rejected the division plans put forward by a military dictator, and vowed to continue their indigenous struggle for their right to self-determination.
"The uproar created by the unilateral CBMs by Pakistan cannot camouflage the Indian forces' atrocities against the innocent Kashmiris", he said, adding they (Kashmiris) did not sacrifice 80,000 men and women to open the communication routes between the two countries and accord the line of control permanent status of international border.
Qazi regretted that President Musharraf is airing such division plan on Kashmir at world fora which tantamount to deprive Pakistan of the world support on its principled stance vis-à-vis Kashmir issue.
He said New Delhi did not pull back its troops from held valley even as a customary confidence building measure. Indian troops are assailing innocent Kashmiris as a routine matter. In this backdrop, he said, General Musharraf's reiteration to divide Kashmir into seven zones was nothing but a sheer contempt of Kashmiris martyrs.
India, Qazi said, is all out to ditch Pakistan on Baglihar Dam issue while the rulers in Islamabad are overly obsessed with unilateral peace and friendship plans with India. "This uncalled-for obsession for peace with India has led them to cut their own jugular vein into pieces", said Qazi.
The MMA chief vowed that Kashmiris will not be left alone in their freedom struggle, saying that May 2 Kashmir conference at Hatian-Srinagr Road will be a loud and clear message for the Indians and Kashmiris across the LoC that resumption of communication links cannot compromise the freedom struggle.
