Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl, Executive Director Kashmir Centre London visited Luton North parliamentary constituency. He was accompanied by the community leaders Mohammad Ghalib, President Tehreek-i- Kashmir UK, Mohammad Sharief, Vice President Tehreek-i-Kashmir UK, Choudhary Mohammad Akhtar, ex councillor and Chairman Labour Party Luton South, Mohammad Ashraf, Riaz Butt, Raja Saleem and Professor Manzoor Hussain, reports Kashmir Media Service.
Margaret Moran, former Member Parliament and contesting candidate for Labour Party for general election 2005 assured Professor Shawl to support the genuine cause of people of Jammu and Kashmir. She would raise awareness in parliament and beyond.
She would continue to work for ascertaining the will of people of Jammu and Kashmir according to mandate of United Nations Organisations.
She remarked that the British Labour Party had included Kashmir dispute in its election manifesto with the promise to work for the peaceful resolution o f the conflict between India and Pakistan.
Further, she said that our party supports and welcomes the ongoing peace process as the little steps being taken can ultimately lead to an atmosphere of trust and confidence for recognition of aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Professor Nazir Shawl briefed her about the human rights violations, which are continuing in Indian occupied Kashmir.
He appreciated her concern for Kashmir cause and hoped that she would be a source of great encouragement for the promotion of Kashmir awareness in the party as well in parliament.
A similar meeting with Barrister Qurban Hussain, candidate for Liberal Democrat from Luton South also pledged his support for the Kashmir cause.
