The Sindh government has prepared PC-I for construction of road from Jhallo Jo Chaunro to Khokhrapar (up to the border with India) at a cost of Rs 344.841 million. The PC-I is in pursuance of meetings held last year regarding opening of Khokhrapar-Munabao bus service. The PC-I, cleared by the provincial development working party (PDWP) in its meeting last year, was awaiting the administrative approval.
The 35km long road runs along the historical earthen track and is nearly parallel to the existing meter gauge railway track. En-route main villages are Jhallo Jo Chaunro (2500 souls), Wasal Bar (3000 souls) Bhitala (2200 souls) and Khokhrapar (3000 souls).
In order to facilitate onward journey, the works & services department has approved the road from Chore to Jhallo Jo Chaunro (30km) at an estimated cost of Rs 53.749 million.
After the approval of the scheme and placement of funds, the scheme will be completed within 15 months.
By construction of this road, the total length from Mirpurkhas to Khokhrapar up to the border will be 160km.
The works & services department commended government and the law enforcement agencies for their co-operation.
After construction of this road, an all-weather communication facility will be available from international border to all other parts of the country.
