The government has approved Rs 491.54 million for the establishment of Allama Iqbal Faculty of Arts at the Kabul University, Afghanistan. According to the Planning Commission sources, the project would be completed in 24 months and would facilitate 1,000 to 1,200 ambitious students in various disciplines. The programme is the part of Pakistan government's plan to support Afghanistan in the development of its educational facilities and to impart higher education to their students.
The sources said the Ministry of higher education Afghanistan had desired for the building of faculty of arts in the premises of University for 1,000 to 1,200 students with capacity for future growth, both in terms of number of students and additional disciplines.
The Pakistan government responded positively and decided to help their Afghan brethren for the reconstruction of educational institutions, which were ruined and damaged due to prolonged civil war.
The sources said that the proposed project located at Kabul University Afghanistan would be a step forward for the reconstruction of facilities for higher education in the country. Under the programme, the Nespak Construction Company will build Academic blocks with all facilities, including central heating system, classrooms, libraries, teachers counselling rooms, lecture halls and all other required facilities.
The sources said that Rs 263.78 million would be spent on the civil work, while for the electrical and plumbing work Rs 54.64 million and Rs 6.60 million would be allocated.
