A goldsmith was killed and his cousin injured when unidentified bandits snatched Rs 5.5 million and jewellery from them and over a bid of resistance the criminals opened fires. According to details, a goldsmith Imtiaz, 50, resident of Kabir Wala, along with his cousin Majid, 32, was on his way to go to Khanewal after selling jewellery. Four unknown car riders interrupted them at taxi stand near railway Chowk and snatched Rs 5.5 million and jewellery beg after injuring them.
The injured was shifted to hospital. After the mishap, city goldsmiths shut down their business, held a protest demonstration and demanded forthwith arrest of assailants.
