To accommodate more DMG officers in the Capital Development Authority, bifurcation of authority's Environment Wing into two sections is likely in the near future, sources told Business Recorder on Wednesday. The summary in this regard has been sent to the CDA Chairman, Kamran Lashari for approval. According to detail, two separate slots of Director generals (DGs) are being created under the proposed plan. The Environment Wing of the authority consists of Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA), Directorate of Sanitation and Directorate of Environment headed by a DG, Malik Mazhar Hussain.
Now, former Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Tariq Mehmood Malik, who has recently been transferred to the CDA, will head DMA and Sanitation Directorates as Director General of the new wing, the sources said.
Earlier, he refused to take charge as Director. He tried to take charge as to get a member administration but was not successful.
The sources informed this scribe that the new slot of DG had been created to oblige DMG officers.
In addition, the other wing will have Environment Directorate to be looked after by incumbent Director General Environment, Malik Mazhar Hussain.
The in-office DG has also expressed displeasure over the curtailing of his powers, the sources said adding he was also lobbying for not implementing the decision.
Talking to this correspondent, an official said that bifurcation of the Environment Wing would serve no better rather creating more complications for the authority.
