Cricket Australia (CA) is to commemorate its 100th anniversary this week by honouring its deceased players. CA said on Thursday the crest of the trademark baggy green cap may be used on the gravestones of its deceased players. Descendants of deceased Australian Test players will also be offered a commemorative certificate to honour their role in helping make cricket part of the Australian way of life. Friday marks 100 years since the first meeting of the Australian Board of Control for International Cricket Matches, an organisation which later became the Australian Cricket Board and the contemporary Cricket Australia.
Chairman Bob Merriman said his organisation wanted to recognise its centenary with a project to honour former Test cricketers.
