All Pakistan Exporters Association of Mineral Mining and Processing (APEAMMP) and the International Marble Institute (IS.I.M) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on technical support to boost the marble mining sector in Balochistan and NWFP. According to MoU, which was signed here, Italy will set up a model quarry and training institute in Pakistan. The organisations of both the countries would exchange the mutual expertise to develop the marble sector in Pakistan. The IS.I.M, which is an Italian multipurpose and non-profit training and research institute for dimensional stone technology, would also transfer the machinery worth Euro 200,000 to Pakistan.
The delegation of Italy assured the host country of its technical assistance, in order to augment the sector in Pakistan. Italy co-operation is two-folded and based on training of the local personnel to operate the machines that Italy would possibly provide.
