The Lahore High Court (LHC), while calling a report from Punjab Zakat and Ushr administrator by May 26, has restrained the respondent from bringing any change in the sitting chairmen of the Zakat committees. The court passed these orders in a petition filed by Azam Zahid and others praying to the court to direct the respondents to allow the sitting chairmen Zakat committees to dispose off their work. The petitioners contended that respondents were changing the petitioners and others illegally and without lawful authority. They prayed to the court to direct the respondents not to change them till disposal of the petition.
Earlier, district Chairman Zakat Committee Okara confessed before the court that some members of the parliament were using pressure tactics to replace present incumbents with their nominees in the Zakat committees.
