The five-day annual Urs of Shah Latif Bari Qadri popularly known as Bari Imam will conclude here on Thursday. Thousands of devotees from all over the country are participating in the Urs to pay homage to the great sufi saint at the historical mirror-studded shrine in Nurpur Shahan, a village situated at the foot of Margalla Hills near Quaid-i-Azam University. The concluding ceremony is likely to be presided over by Chairman Senate Mohammedmian Soomro on Thursday evening.
Brisk arrangements have been made to facilitate the visits of devotees and followers at the Mazar of Bari Imam, who spread Islam in this part of the land with his love and affection. Public transport has been made available round the clock to facilitate people at various routes in the twin cities. A big area has been allocated as parking to avoid the traffic jam.
Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration has made elaborate arrangements for distribution of 'lungar' among zaireen during the Urs days. Water Directorate of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has enhanced water supply to the venue of the Urs.
The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has installed a new transformer to ensure uninterrupted power supply round the clock during the Urs day. Evacuee Department has installed a high-powered generator to cope with the situation in case of power breakdown. The District Health Department has established a field dispensary at the venue of the Urs, which is providing maximum health cover to the visitors.
Police commandos have been deputed along jungle area and mountain tracks leading to the shrine of Hazrat Bari Imam to provide security to devotees during the Urs. Special security teams have been constituted to keep a vigilant eye on pickpockets and other suspicious elements.
Special stickers bearing the signature of Station House Officer of Secretariat police station have been issued to the vehicle owners, residing in the vicinity of shrine.
People have also been directed not to bring any explosive material and fire arms with them and avoid musical instruments in the premises of the shrine. The people have been directed to co-operate with the federal police and devotees coming from different parts of the country.
