The Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) of Sindh police with the help of a local vehicle tracking company "C Track" busted three members of a group involved in selling and purchasing of stolen cars from the metropolis. The ACLC also recovered three TT pistols and seven stolen vehicles, several modern tools of tempering chassis and engine numbers of stolen cars from a house rented by the accused in PECHS. ACLC SSP Bashir Memon stated this during a press briefing at the Artillery Maidan Police Station here on Thursday.
Police started investigation on a tip-off from "C Track" regarding a Suzuki Mehran (AHP-247), stolen on Monday from the jurisdiction of Ferozabad Police Station. The car was parked in a house in PECHS Block 2, which the group has rented for Rs 20,000 per month.
The tracking company on Thursday passed the information regarding the stolen car that was heading towards Hub area to the police, which by taking prompt action stopped the vehicle with the number plate AFR-418 near Manghopir. Five people were riding in the car. They tried to escape from the scene, but the police successfully arrested three of them, which were identified as Mushtaq, Matloob Haider Bugti and Sohail.
The remaining two accused identified as Sabir Bugti, commonly known as Asadullah Bugti and Haji Saifullah Tarar managed to escape.
The ACLC send the vehicle for laboratory tests and the car was identified as AHP-247, stolen from the jurisdiction of Ferozabad Police Station on Monday. After initial investigation, the police also raided a house in PECHS and recovered six more vehicles and several modern tools used in tempering of chassis and engine numbers by the group.
The accused revealed that there gang leader Abid Hussain is a sub-engineer in Balochistan Irrigation Department.
They usually purchased white colour Suzuki Mehran or Suzuki Hi-Roof of model 2004-05 and change chassis, engine number, numbers plates and sell it in Khuzdar and other cities of Balochistan. Bashir Memon hoped that the police would soon apprehend the mastermind of this group.
