Motor Registering Authority (MRA), Lahore has taken various concrete and effective measures to facilitate the motoring public and redress their complaints on priority basis. MRA Lahore, Shakeel ur Rehman, since assuming the charge of his office, has accorded top priority to redress the grievances of motoring public. In order to redress public complaints pertaining to overcharging, computer generated challan receipts are being issued to the public at the time of deposit of cash amount for registration of new vehicles, sources in the MRA's office said here on Thursday.
Apart from this, additional registration windows have been established at motor branch Lahore, to check the hassle of standing in long queues. Now they are not waiting for long time, as their cases are processed expeditiously, the sources said.
They pointed out that in order to discourage entry of agents in the office premises, Excise and Taxation Officials are deputed to check their wrong practices. Moreover, they said, the process with regard to auction of attractive registration numbers of vehicles has been made transparent and revenue generation under the head of auction of numbers has been increased significantly. Similarly, verification process of registration documents of vehicles has been made more efficient, to curb the practice of registration of vehicles on fake papers, they further pointed out.
The sources further said that Director E&T Region-C Lahore, Chaudhry Masood ul Haq is closely watching the performance of his subordinates and taking stern action against the officials involved in wrong practices.
