Hurriyat Conference (A) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has asked Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to remove hurdles and facilitate June 2 visit of the Hurriyat leader to Azad Kashmir and Pakistan. Addressing a gathering he cautioned that if unnecessary hitches are created then there are chances that the peace process might get derailed. "We hope that government of India particularly Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will step-in and remove all bottlenecks. We are going to Pakistan for meaningful talks so that a consensus is evolved on Kashmir issue", he said.
Mirwaiz said that history has thrown a golden opportunity for all of them to resolve the Kashmir issue. "The issue has entered into a decisive phase. In this connection we have received an invitation from Pakistani government which we have accepted. If Allah willing a high level team of Hurriyat will be boarding the bus to Muzaffarabad on June 2", he added.
Urging New Delhi to shun rigidity, he said flexibility is the need of the hour and India should do away with the rigid attitude so that the issue is resolved for ensuring peace and prosperity in South Asia.
He stressed that India should display maturity and foresight. We are at a critical stage. Government of India has a responsibility to grab the opportunity and help in bringing about solution to Kashmir issue", he said. Hurriyat (A) chairman said that they support Indo-Pak peace process and feel that the issue of Kashmir can be resolved through a process of dialogue.
Giving details about their visit to AJK and Pakistan, he said apart from meeting the political and mujahideen leadership, they would meet the people who have migrated to that part of Kashmir since 1947.
He said they would also pay a visit the mazar of Muhajir-e-Millat Mirwaiz Mohammed Yousuf Shah. "We will also talk to the Kashmiri people particularly to the families migrated to Azad Kashmir since 1947. We will talk about Kashmir, seek our rights and raise our demands", Mirwaiz told the gathering which raised slogans in support.
