A big protest rally on Friday, held the government responsible for Barri Imam shrine carnage and demanded of the rulers to ensure peace and security in the country. The rally was organised by the followers of Fiqqa-e-Jafaria, which started from G-6 Imambargah and culminated at China Chowk. A large number of protestors held banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the US, Israel, Sipah-e-Sahaba and Lashkar-e-Janghvi.
These demonstrators condemned the recent terrorist acts in Islamabad and Karachi, and demanded of the government to arrest the real culprits.
The speakers who addressed the rally included Senator Abbas Kumaili, Allama Jalil Abbas Naqvi, Maulana Akhter Abbas, Mian Mohammad Aslam from Jammat-i-Islami, Maulana Amin Shahid and Maulana Irfan Haider.
Maulana Abbas demanded of the government to arrest the real terrorists, which are not only spreading violence, but also defaming Islam in the world.
He also criticised the government for not sufficiently compensating the dead and injured people in Barri Imam and demanded that Rs 500,000 and Rs 300,000 should be provided to the dead and injured, respectively.
He also accused the Islamabad police of mishandling the Barri Imam incidence and condemned the baton-charge and use of teargas on peaceful mourners.
Main Mohammad Aslam said that there was no animosity between Sunnis and Shias and they are brothers.
