Food Department Multan has procured 582,552-tonne wheat achieving 60.68 percent of the target so far, at 75 centres set up in the six districts of the former Multan division. Food Department Multan would procure 960,000-tonne wheat from the Multan region this year, said deputy director Manzoor Bajwa. He said the target was likely to be achieved, as bumper wheat crop had been harvested due to favourable weather conditions.
He said that at the Punjab level some 2.4million-tonne wheat was being procured against a target of 3.5million-tonne, thus achieving over 68percent of the overall provincial target.
