Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) Deputy Secretary General Liaquat Baloch has said that recent terrorist incidents in the country are sheer proof of the government's failure to maintain law and order, adding that there is widespread sense of insecurity due to government's inability to protect lives and properties of the people.
The MMA deputy secretary general was addressing a protest demonstration against killing of its leader Aslam Mujahid, suicide blast in Madinatul Ilm Imambargah and Barri Imam near Jamia Binori Town here on Friday.
Liaquat Baloch called the acts of terrorism an attempt to divert the Muslims attention and dilute the protest against desecration of the Holy Quran by the US soldiers in Guantanamo Bay.
"The Muslims in Pakistan were protesting against desecration of the Holy Quran when "secret hands" hatched a conspiracy to turn their attention to other sides," he added.
He held the Sindh government responsible for the incident of Madinatul Ilm Imambargah and killing of Aslam Mujahid.
He said that the coalition partner of Sindh government, which have lost public mandate, is now resorting to actions of harassment and controlling the people by force.
He said that there are no differences among the allied parties of MMA and all the member parties would continue their struggle for the supremacy of Constitution and the Parliament.
Maulana Abdul Karim Abid said that religious scholars are being continuously killed.
Allama Hasan Turabi said that there is no clash between Shias and Sunnis and the people of Karachi had proved that they want to live together peacefully. He said that the present terrorist incidents show that a secret hand is involved in the killing of Muslims.
Karachi MMA President Hafiz Taqi, Karachi Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr Merajul Huda, city Tehrik Insaf President Hafiz Fazal Karim, MNA Muhammad Hussain Mehanti, MPAs Nasrullah Shajeeh, Younus Barai, Advocate Hamidullah and others also spoke on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the protestors holding banners and placards chanted slogans against the government and demanded immediate arrest of the killers.
