The rupee depreciated by three paisa against the dollar in the open market on Saturday for buying and selling at 60.53 and 60.58, dealers said. In the absence of major demand for dollars, the rupee managed to limit its losses in terms of the greenback, they said. Versus the euro, the rupee gained 40 paisa for buying at Rs 74.30 and it also picked up 20 paisa for selling at Rs 74.70 in slow activity, they added.
In the world markets, the dollar maintained its higher trend in relation to the leading currencies, they said.
INTERBANK RATESThe rupee-dollar parity maintained the overnight levels at 59.66 and 59.67, respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee maintained upward trend and further appreciated it's worth by 20-paisa in relation to the greenback in the local currency markets on Saturday.
According to the currency dealers, the greenback's rate moved down, following increase in the dollar's supply, which helped the local currency improve its worth. The dollar resumed trading at Rs 60.60 and Rs 60.70 as its buying and selling rates, respectively. However, it could not sustain on account of selling pressure and declined to Rs 60.50 and Rs 60.60 on buying and selling sides, respectively, as compared to previous closing Rs 60.70 and Rs 60.80 of Friday, the dealers said.
Similarly, the local currency continued rising trend and further improved its worth against the pound sterling. The British pound was purchased at Rs 111.30 and was sold at Rs 110.70 as compared to Rs 110.60 and Rs 111.00 of Friday, the dealers added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar remained firm against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Saturday.
The dollar opened at Rs 60.25 (buying) and Rs 60.35 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe any further change in the second spell and closed at Rs 60.25 (buying) and Rs 60.35 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 110.85 (buying) and Rs 110.95 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not observe any change in the second session and closed at Rs 110.85 (buying) and Rs 110.95 (selling).
