The visit of Turkish President Ahmed Necdet Sezer to Pakistan is being rescheduled and a decision on new dates will be announced shortly. A Foreign Office spokesman said the visit was originally to take place from June 10 and 12 and postponement has been forced by some pressing commitments. Meanwhile, the meeting of Pakistan-Turkish Joint Economic Commission was to take place at Islamabad to monitor mechanism through which the trade between the two countries could be increased from 400 million to one billion dollars.
The prime ministers of Pakistan and Turkey set the new target during their meetings at Ankara last month. They had also agreed to expand their co-operation in defence sector, including co-production of equipment.
