Modest recovery was seen in the rupee's value against the dollar in the inter-bank market on Saturday for buying and selling at 59.62 and 59.64, respectively, dealers said. The rupee managed to gain some grounds on easy supply of dollars, dealers said. In the international markets, the dollar posted sharp gains versus the euro following the lower-than-expected US trade deficit, dealers said.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee maintained a firm posture, showing no change in terms of the dollar for buying and selling at 60.40 and 60.45, dealers said.
While, the rupee gained 60 paisa against the euro for buying and selling at Rs 74.00 and Rs 74.20, respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee closed the week on a positive note, as it improved its worth by five paisa in relation to the greenback in the local currency markets.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar witnessed marginal decline in its demand, which helped the rupee maintain upward trend for the second consecutive day.
The dollar's trading commenced at Friday's closing rates of Rs 60.80 and Rs 60.90 on buying and selling counters, respectively. However, the dollar could not sustain and declined to Rs 60.75 and Rs 60.85 on buying and selling sides, respectively, the dealers said.
Likewise, the rupee remained firm against the pound sterling. The pound's buying rate declined from previous closing rate of Rs 111.00 to Rs 110.50, while its selling rate moved down from Rs 111.50 to Rs 111.00, they added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar remained firm against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Saturday.
The dollar opened at Rs 60.65 (buying) and Rs 60.75 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not observe any further change in the second spell and closed at Rs 60.65 (buying) and Rs 60.75 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 111 (buying) and Rs 111.20 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not observe any change in the second session and closed at Rs 111 (buying) and Rs 111.20 (selling).
