Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqi has declared wearing of helmet compulsory as per law so as to protect motor-cycle riders against fatal accidents. Issuing directive to Traffic Police in this regard, the Home Minister said that in order to make the people to follow this restriction, they should be cautioned for one month whereafter the order for wearing of helmet should be strictly enforced.
Rauf Siddiqi said that those wishing to join women police force and traffic police would be fully encouraged.
He observed that in the past, women used to feel hesitation in joining police force, but during the present day, the identity and prestige of police force has been enhanced and the relationship of confidence, co-operation and respect between police and people is strengthening.
The Home Minister was speaking as chief guest while inaugurating the issuance of driving licences in the shape of plastic cards. He said issuance of driving licences in plastic cards, the possibilities of fake and spurious licences will be eliminated.
He paid tributes to IGP that because of his personal interest and efforts, the two driving licence branches have been linked with the data base and facilities provided to people in the attainment of driving licence.
