Punjab Governor, Lieutenant-General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) will be chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU) to be held at Income Tax House on Thursday. The function will be attended be senior officials from income Tax and Sales Tax department as well as taxpayers. This LTU was established in Lahore last year and since September 2004 its income tax wing was operational and functional.
After its full-fledged opening on Thursday, it would deal with income tax, sales tax, and central excise and customs cases at one place, headed by a director general, equal to the rank of Regional Commissioner of Income Tax.
According to officials, the basic philosophy to establish this IInd LTU is to assist taxpayers and provide them better and improved facilities under one-roof.
