Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said he wanted to visit occupied Srinagar to meet his kin and the situation should not be made a 'bone of contention'. Talking to media persons here Friday who sought his comments on the controversy continuing in the Indian press regarding his visit to the Indian held Kashmir, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said, "I want to be there (Srinagar) on a private visit and it should not he made an issue."
He said if he was permitted for visit by the Indian External Affairs Ministry, it would give him an opportunity to pray on the graves of his grandparents, besides meeting with the relatives.
He expressed hope that his visit would also help promote the ongoing peace process between Pakistan and India.
However, he said that since the matter was under process with the Indian authorities, he would wait till the decision was intimated to him officially.
