Amid ongoing war of words and burgeoning tension between the two neighbouring countries, Afghanistan Transport Minister Enayatullah Qasemi is likely to visit Pakistan on June 28. Sources in the Communication Ministry said that the Afghan minister would arrive here on Tuesday on a two-day official visit to discuss important matters related to communication sector.
The levelling of accusations are creating tension between both the countries. Afghan authorities are accusing Pakistan over its alleged failure to curb Taleban attacks from its soil, while Islamabad is denying the charges and claims to be a frontline state in the war against terrorism.
The visit of Afghan minister will help in defusing the prevailing tension.
It was learnt that Enayatullah is also expected to meet President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to discuss hosts of issues, particularly cross-border movement of terrorists.
The sources added that the Afghan minister is scheduled to meet his counterpart Shamim Siddiqui to map out land routes between the two countries.
Chaman-Kandahar road link would come under discussion, besides other ventures, the sources said, adding that Afghanistan - a war-torn country - needs Pakistan's help for improving its dilapidated road infrastructure.
Afghanistan is the most important road link for Pakistan to access the Central Asian markets.
