The Engineering Development Board (EDB) would hold a two-day international workshop on "Investment opportunities in steel sector of Pakistan" next month here to attract investment in the sector. The higher growth economy rate in general and industrial production in particular has increased the demand of steel in the country, which has to be met. Therefore, the EDB is striving hard to attract investment in the sector. The workshop is the first step in this direction.
The EDB Management Board, under the Chairmanship of former Commerce Minister Abdul Razak Dawood, has expressed satisfaction over the EDB performance since its merger with Experts Advisory Cell in March 2005.
It appreciated the public-private partnership policy of the government, which was manifested in handing over the development of engineering industry to the private sector.
The meeting was attended by Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Imtiaz Rastgar and EDB Co-ordinator Javed Akhtar Paracha and other members from the private sector.
