Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi has said that planning has been done for ensuring timely and proper utilisation of funds allocated for various development schemes in the 2005-06 budget. He said that strong economy is the top priority of the present government besides elimination of poverty and backwardness from the province.
Thus all available resources are being utilised for various uplift projects, he added while talking to MNAs and MPAs belonging to Lahore who called on him at his residence on Sunday.
Defence Production Minster Habibullah Warraich, District Nazim Lahore Amir Mehmood, Punjab Minister for Information Technology Abdul Aleem Khan, Minister for Tourism Aslam Iqbal, Adviser to Chief Minister and President of PML Lahore Mian Munir and Senator Kamil Ali Agha were also present on the occasion.
The chief minister said that due importance was being given to the proposals and suggestions of assembly members with regard to local bodies elections and development projects.
He said that mega projects in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan and other cities were being completed speedily and extension of these projects would result in relief to the masses besides uplifting their living standard. The present government is carrying out historic development work in the province for the betterment and progress of masses, he said.
Pervaiz said that work at Rs 18 billion Ring Road project was in full sowing and its first phase was near completion. He said that besides the people of Lahore, citizens of Sheikhupura and Kasur would also be benefiting form this project. Lahore Ring Road will link all adjoining localities of the city besides accelerating economic activities in provincial capital and other cities of Punjab.
Moreover, the chief minister said, the project of modern emergency ambulance service is now being extended to all big cities of the province. He said that Shaikh Zayed Trade Centre, which is being established on Ferozpur Road Lahore would provide job opportunities to more than 30,000 unemployed people.
District Nazim Amer Mehmood and Vice President of PML Lahore Mian Munir briefed the chief minister on the various development projects in Lahore and organisational affairs of PML.
