The Rs4.27 billion tax-free development oriented budget of Sialkot District Government has been unanimously passed for the financial year 2005-2006. Presenting the budget, Sialkot district Nazim Mian Naeem Javed in house here on Saturday said that 33 percent of the budget had been set aside for development purpose.
Highlighting the salient features of the budget the District Nazim told the house that more than Rs1.69 billion had been allocated for education sector and Rs332.3 million for health sector in the budget.
Giving classification Naeem Javed said that Rs133.6 million for communication, Rs35.1 million for agriculture, Rs5.0 million for rural health centres and basic health units, Rs12.5 million for Allama Iqbal hospital, Sardar Begum hospital, civil hospital Daska and tehsil headquarter hospital Pasrur and Rs592.0 million had been allocated on-going development schemes.
The Nazim informed that during next fiscal year as many as 393 development schemes would be completed in the district.
He said that Rs187.1 million had been earmarked for under taking new development schemes and union councils development work in the district. Special step had also been taken for obtaining modern agricultural technologies for tracking the agriculture sector on modern and scientific lines in Sialkot district.
District Nazim further informed the house that under PESRP programme brisk development work on 309 new and on-going schemes was in full swing out of which 59 schemes would be completed at a cost of Rs356.9 million and a grant of Rs214 million was expected during the next fiscal year.
Under Citizen Community Boards as many as 47 schemes had been initiated of which 15 schemes had so far been completed with a cost of Rs136.1 million, he added.
District Nazim termed the budget for 2005-2006 the biggest budget in the history of Sialkot district.
