Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Amanullah Khan Jadoon on Sunday said here that the government would connect 85 percent cities and towns in the country with natural gas facility by 2007. He expressed these views at the Sui gas supply inaugural ceremonies to the villages of Malikpura and Kehyal which would be completed at a cost of Rs 70 million.
The Minister said the government was according great importance to the speedy development of oil and gas sector which would bring revolutionary change in the lifestyle of the people.
He added that the government has earmarked a major portion of the budget for the provision of basic amenities of life to the people in order to uplift their living standard. He said that over 50,000 gas connections would be provided to new consumers of NWFP, costing up to Rs 950 million during the current year.
Deputy parliamentary leader in NWFP Assembly Mushtaq Ghani said that the government was ensuring provision of basic facilities of life to the people without any discrimination.
He said that electricity, gas, roads and water supply schemes were being completed in the Hazara division.
