The indigenous production of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) cylinders would be initiated soon in Pakistan in a bid to save precious foreign exchange. Sources in Production Ministry informed private TV that an agreement between the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF), Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco), Pak-Suzuki and Dewan motors would be inked on Monday.
Initially, the cylinders would be provided to Pak Suzuki motors and Dewan motors only.
The Pakistan Science Foundation would provide financial assistance in the project.
It may be mentioned here that Pakistan is the third largest CNG user in the world. About 60 percent increase in CNG usage had been registered during the last couple of years.
About 0.7 million vehicles have already been converted into environment friendly CNG. Pakistan was importing about 100,000 CNG cylinders worth $15 million per annum.
