Sindh Ministry of Information Technology is concentrating simultaneously on rural and urban parts of Sindh for establishment of 'IT Awareness Centres'. The provincial IT Minister Mustafa Kamal at a press conference here shared these views on Tuesday.
He announced that his department is going to open ten more 'Free IT Awareness Centres' in different districts of Sindh, and formal inauguration of these centres would start from June 29. The number would increase to 45.
The ten free IT awareness centres would be opened in Kashmore, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Hyderabad, Latifabad, Thatta and rural areas of Karachi as part of the department's ongoing campaign for achieving 800 Free IT Awareness Centres by year 2007.
These centres aim at providing facilities of free IT courses to poor students who are unable to buy computer or get IT education due to lack of resources, he said.
Modern version of computers along with Internet facility would be installed at these centres.
He said that such centres would not award any diploma or certificate to the students.
Kamal said that about 35 centres are already working in various districts of the province.
