Sindh Minister for Information Technology, Syed Mustafa Kamal has said the government was striving hard to bridge the information gap between poor and rich by setting up free IT centres in remote areas of the province. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said IT department had launched two major projects; opening of free IT awareness centres and providing internet facility in remote areas to remove the digital gap between poor and rich.
He said that Sindh IT department had set an example by taking revolutionary steps for development of IT in a short span of time.
Of 800 free IT centres in Sindh, 10 centres having availability of internet would start functioning from July 29 in rural areas of Kashmore, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Hyderabad, Thatta and Karachi.
He said the opening of free IT centres in remote and rural areas of Sindh were aimed at providing computer literacy to the students who were unable to afford the expenses of computer studies.
He termed the project as revolutionary step, which would prove a milestone in eliminating the difference between rural and urban areas of the province.
He said that computer literacy both in rural and urban areas was a prerequisite for the development of the province.
