The Australian Wool Exchange (AWEX) said its eastern market indicator (EMI) rose seven cents to 714 cents a kg clean at its sales on Tuesday. AWEX said its northern indicator (Sydney) rose four cents to 724 c/kg, while its southern indicator (Melbourne) gained nine cents to 705 c/kg, respectively.
In Fremantle, the western indicator also rose by nine cents to 699 cents a kg clean following a sales break last week.
The Sydney sale saw solid increases through the 20 to 23 micron range, boosted by a small offering of less than 5,000 bales. 19 microns and finer remained unchanged, while 20 microns rose five cents and 21 to 23 microns were 10 cents dearer.
In Melbourne, a stylish selection of 17 to 20 microns wools were 10 to 15 cents dearer.
Most other microns were five to 10 cents dearer, while 23 microns were stable.
