Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Local Government Waseem Akhtar has appealed to the Prime Minister to have the report of Auditor General of Pakistan re-audited as it does not cover the full period of district governments. He was talking to journalists during an inspection visit of various storm water drains on Saturday.
Caretaker City District Government Karachi, Fazlur Rehman, EDO Works, Sarfraz Shah and other senior officials also accompanied him.
Waseem Akhtar informed the media men that on the directive of Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, implementation of an emergency plan to deal with rain emergency has started whereby choked drains are being cleared of blockades.
"We have decided to provide relief to people and will not focus attention on laying foundation stones only", he said in reply to a question.
"We will complete the projects whose foundation were laid by the former Karachi nazim," the Adviser added.
Waseem Akhtar said former Karachi Nazim kept his attention focussed on merely having cheap publicity and getting his stories published in newspapers.
To a question about on-going schemes, he said that these would be completed in 2-3 months. The Adviser said former CDGK did not bother to get the drains cleared but we have chalked-out a system for that.
To a question about corruption, Waseem Akhtar said whosoever wi11 be involved in corruption will be held accountable.
