The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) and Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) on Saturday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for close collaboration on the issues of vital national importance and to cooperate with each other in a more efficient way. The LCCI President Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman inked the MoU on behalf of the Lahore Chamber, while FCCI President Mian Muhammad Adrees represented the Faisalabad Chamber.
The MoU signing ceremony was also attended by the LCCI Senior Vice President Sohail Lashari, Vice President Sheikh Mohammad Arshad.
LCCI and FPCCI former president Iftikhar Ali Malik and Executive Committee members Aftab Ahmad Vohra, Mian Shafqat Ali, Kashif Younas Mehr, Nauman Kabir and Yousaf Shah were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, addressing the executive committee members of FCCI, Misbah-ur-Rehman said that at this point of time when the industry, commerce, trade and services sectors are feeling elevated because of their contribution to the GDP of the country, the MoU between the chambers is highly useful. He said the initiative taken by Mian Muhammad Adrees to join hands with the LCCI would contribute substantially in the development of mutual trust and understanding of problems relating to trade and industry located in both the cities. He said the MoU would strengthen our resolve to serve the business community in a much better way especially in dealing with current problems relating to sales tax, income tax and customs.
About the working of the LCCI, he said that the chamber has always tried to live up to the expectations of members' firms. The LCCI is working on open door policy to get the issues resolved more efficiently.
The Lahore chamber also undertakes community welfare initiatives and has to its credit two self-sustaining projects: Shalimar Hospital and Lahore Businessmen Association for Rehabilitation of Disabled (Labard).
Speaking on the occasion, Mian Mohammad Adrees said that the MoU between the LCCI and FCCI would give further boost to the inter-chamber interaction and cement the relations among the business people of two important cities of the country. He said today is an age of composite and shared resources and the signing of MoU between the two chambers would go a long way in mitigating the problems facing the business community.
In his address, the FPCCI and LCCI former president Iftikhar Ali Malik termed the MoU between the LCCI and FCCI a historic development.
