The Election Commission of Pakistan has enrolled 1.5 million fresh voters in updating process of the electoral rolls. Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan has clarified that electoral rolls for the local government elections held in 2000-01 were prepared on Separate electorate basis.
These electoral rolls were meant for Muslim voters and Non-Muslim voters separately.
These electoral rolls have been updated and revised during the period between August 09, 2004 and March 15, 2005.
During the updating process 1,511,599 new voters were added and the fresh rolls now contain names of 63.68 million (63,681,072) voters, who will elect their representatives to union councils in all the four provinces.
