Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) parliamentarian asked the government to issue passport to party chief Nawaz Sharif without further delay, enabling him to return home, as it was his legal and fundamental right. Addressing the gathering of party cadre here, on Thursday, PML-N Central Finance Secretary and MNA, Mohammad Pervaiz Malik, said Sharifs return should be viewed in a greater national interest instead of satisfying the false ego by refusal.
The government should also release PML-N acting President Makhdoom Javed Hashmi and allow the party to continue working, he said, adding this is the only way to build a progressive, democratic, enlightened, moderate and true representative political set-up in future.
The PML-N protest camp set-up against the price hike was turned into a demonstration for return of Nawaz Sharif here.
Pervaiz Malik said, the government had already lost an opportunity in 2002 by refusing a passport to Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif, but it could not afford a mistake again.
"If deportation in 1999 was true, the return of the Sharif family in 2005 was prudential," he said.
The PML-N wants to see the return of party leaders with honourable and graceful manner instead of return through any deal with the military government, he claimed.
The honourable return of the two brothers is in the interest of the country as well as the rulers.
He lauded the political sagacity and perseverance of Nawaz Sharif who sustained exile and never compromised on principle. The time of peace has surpassed and now the circumstances permit Nawaz to return which the rulers should adhere, he added.
