The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and Canada-Pakistan Technology Business Forum on Saturday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with an aim to enhance liaison and co-operation between the two organisations in the field of export, import, investment, transfer of technology and other business-related activities.
The LCCI President, Mian Misbahur Rehman, inked the MoU on behalf of the Chamber, while Rehmatullah Javed, who is head of Pakistan chapter of Canada-Pakistan Technology Business Forum, signed the agreement on behalf of the forum. The signing ceremony was also attended by the LCCI Senior Vice President Sohail Lashari and Patron-in-Chief Canada-Pakistan Technology Business Forum Syed Yawar Ali, who is also Honorary Consul General of Canada.
As per agreement, both the organisations would exchange all trade-related information, apart from ensuring the dissemination of the same to all the businessmen. Both the organisations would also take sector-specific measures to promote trade between Pakistan and Canada.
Speaking on the occasion, Misbahur Rehman, said it is a step in right direction and Canada-Pakistan Technology Business Forum should sign such agreements with other chambers too. It is the high time that all global organisations having common aims and objectives should join hands in the larger interests of their people, he added. In the face of global challenges, only those organisations would survive which would have proper co-ordination with other like-minded organisations and the MoU between the two bodies would go a long way in promoting trade relations.
He urged the Canadian businessmen to establish and promote economic relations with Pakistan on preferential basis. He pointed out that many potential sectors including information technology, tourism, telecommunication, banking, insurance, light engineering and food processing had enormous opportunities for joint ventures and investment.
Rehmatullah Javed in his speech said that Canada-Pakistan Technology Business Forum would soon sign such agreements with other chambers of the country, as the sole purpose of the agreement is promotion of trade and transfer of trade-related technology between Pakistan and Canada. He said the forum would make efforts to promote Technology, trade, and investment and business relationship among businessmen of the Trade and Industry of the two friendly countries.
Canada-Pakistan Business and Technology Forum (CPTBF) was formed during the international Conference on Canada's role in the sustainable Development of Asian and African Countries held in Toronto recently.
