Hafiz Hidayatullah Haideri, an activist of the banned Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan, was shot dead near Noor Kubra village in Muzaffargarh district some 42 km west of Multan. He was recently bailed out after serving 2.5 years in prison in Karamdad Qureshi firing case in which 18 persons were killed on January 4, 1999.
His body was found near Muzaffargarh-D G Khan road. He was nominated as main accused in the firing case.
"We have taken a number of suspects in custody and we are optimistic that we would soon arrest the culprits," DPO Muzaffargarh said.
Hidayatullah had gone to Muzaffargarh on Thursday but did not return. On Friday afternoon, his family received a phone call that his body was lying near the road in Noor Kubra village. Then police was informed.
