In order to provide relief to the agriculture sector and to increase the agriculture produce in the province, the Punjab government has decided to supply cheap electricity to the farmers under which the farmers throughout the province, would get 20 percent reduction in the electricity tariff for agricultural tube-wells, as a result of measure taken in collaboration with Wapda.
The Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said this while chairing a high-level meeting here on Tuesday. Chairman Wapda, Tariq Hameed, also attended the meeting.

He pointed out that the farmers would get the benefit from Rs 20 to 90 thousand per annum. Under this scheme of cheap electricity, the timings for the use of electricity by the farmers have been set at 10:00 pm to 6:00 am.
