A number of world leaders on Wednesday expressed their shock and grief over the tragic loss of life in a multi-train collision in Ghotki. Prime Minister of Bangladesh Begum Khaleda Zia in a message to Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said, "I am deeply shocked and saddened to learn about the tragic loss of life as a result of the unfortunate train accident there."
She said, "I would like to convey our deep condolences through you to the bereaved families. We pray for the salvation of the departed souls and for the early recovery of those injured in the accident."
The President of Democratic Party of Japan and Member of House of Representatives Katsuya Okada in a message of sympathy to Prime Minister stated, "I was deeply saddened and shocked to hear the news of the train crash. Please allow me to express my condolences, on behalf of the Democratic Party of Japan, to the victims of this accident to their families and to the people of Pakistan."
"I look forward to meeting with you on your forthcoming visit to Japan, should our mutual schedules permit to convey my condolences in person and to discuss a variety of bilateral and international issues," he stated.
The Ambassador of United States Ryan C Crocker in a statement said, "We are deeply saddened by the news of the horrific train collisions which resulted in the tragic loss of life.
"On behalf of the American people, the US mission to Pakistan wishes to express our heartfelt condolences to the survivors and families of the victims. Our thoughts and prayers are with you," he said.
