Sindh Population Welfare Minister Syed Ali Bux here on Thursday distributed the ownership documents of 38 houses among the people of the coastal village - Golo Manrdo. A total of 74 houses are being constructed under the financial assistance of Rs 20 million announced by the Punjab government for the reconstruction of Golo Manrdo as model village, after its complete destruction in 1999 cyclone.
Addressing the distribution ceremony of the documents, the minister praised the Punjab government for its financial and moral support to the people of Sindh when the cyclone had caused life and property losses in the coastal belt of the province in 1999.
Syed Ali Bux Shah said people have been shifted to 38 reconstructed houses of the village, before monsoon rains, adding the construction of the remaining houses is under way. He reaffirmed his commitment to striving for the rights of the people of Badin.
The minister said the present government has carried out record development projects in the district.
He called upon the people to elect honest people in the forthcoming Local Government elections so that their problems could be resolved at the grassroots level.
The minister expressed dissatisfaction over the quality of the material used in the construction of Badin-Sahrano Road. He directed the EDO Works to take action against the relevant contractors for using sub-standard material.
