Dr Sarfaraz Jafry of the Husaini Blood Bank on Thursday said that his organisation would provide blood to all the injured people in the Ghotki train accident and so far 250 units had been handed over to the Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority.
Talking to Business Recorder, he said that the Husaini Blood Bank had the capacity of supplying 1,000 units (450,000 millilitres) per day to meet any national emergency.
He said this service was free-of-coast as part of the organisation's contribution toward official relief operations.
Sarfaraz said that the members of the Husaini Hematology and Oncology Trust had reaffirmed their full-fledged support to the Sindh Transfusion Authority in relief operations aimed at providing medical support to the injured, and have offered complete blood provision to all the hospitals housing sufferers of the accident.
Dr Farhana Memon, Secretary, Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority, has said that that efforts were being made to provide complete relief to the injured people and the Sukkur Blood Donating Society was doing its best to accommodate all patients in need of blood.
She said that the people had realised their responsibility and had come forward to donate blood.
The relief operations at Ghotki are reported to be fast and despite meagre services the injured people were taken care of.
