Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has started various programs to create mass awareness and enhancing capacity of media organisations concerning government's efforts against child labour. Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) and Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) had started broadcasting programs on issue of child labour, besides number of articles were being published in national dailies, said a press release here Friday.
These programs are the part of joint project of Ministry of Information and International Labour Organisations to activate media for creating awareness on the issue.
Dramas, serials, documentaries and discussion programs are also being broadcast in this regard. While articles and features have also been published in the print media.
The project, spanning over two years, has set the target of telecasting 20 dramas of 25 minutes duration on PTV, eight discussion programs, eight documentaries based on in-depth reports and interviews with the children and stakeholders and 15 spots.
Similarly, PBC would be broadcasting 20 Urdu dramas, 18 discussion programs 13 documentaries and 12 jingles.
Capacity building of media organisations to produce programs on child labour being one of the important objectives of the project, 250 media managers, producers and journalists are being trained on issues of child labour through workshops.
Four one-day capacity building media workshops have already been conducted in Karachi, Peshawar, Lahore and Quetta while the fifth workshop is scheduled to take place in Islamabad on July 28.
