US cocoa futures prices closed modestly weaker Friday, with a rising dollar putting slight pressure on the market in an otherwise uneventful trading session, traders said. The New York Board of Trade's most-active September cocoa contract settled at $1,405 a tonne, down $4 after changing hands in a narrow range from $1,401 to $1,417.
December eased $6 to $1,436 a tonne, while back-month contracts finished down $4 to $6.
