US arabica coffee futures prices closed in negative territory on Friday, with speculative selling erasing the previous session's gains of more than 3 percent, traders said. The New York Board of Trade's most-active September arabica contract finished down 2.8 percent, or 3.05 cents, at $1.0550 a lb., near the bottom of a trading range from $1.0530 to $1.0910.
Among other arabicas, December lost 2.95 cents to $1.0985 a lb., and back months shed 2.40 to 2.90 cents.
