US stocks dipped on Friday after General Electric Co's forecast that third-quarter earnings may not meet Wall Street's expectations overshadowed gains from McDonald's better-than expected preliminary profit.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 20 points, or 0.19 percent, at 10,609. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 2.19 points, or 0.18 percent, at 1,224.31. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite Index was down 4.86 points, or 0.23 percent, at 2,147.96.
